Many of us know the stirling work Wilga Rivers has done in language learning and teaching over many, many years. Those who do will certainly be saddened by this news:

"I write on this occasion to share with you the sad news that an exemplary colleague and good friend, Professor Emerita Wilga Rivers, passed away on 23 June. She had been in a coma for welve months.

Her contribution to our field was exceptional and she will be sorely missed by many of us.
